Nova Twins are an English duo from south east London / Essex, formed of bassist Georgia South and vocalist/guitarist Amy Love. Both are in their early 20s. They released their debut self titled EP in 2016.[1] Both come from musical backgrounds. South was taught to play the piano at a young age by her father and started her first band at the age of 12. She later attended school with Novelist (MC). Love attended the British Academy of New Music in east London, where classmates included Ed Sheeran and Rita Ora.[2] The two were involved with various musical projects prior to forming Nova Twins and started their careers gigging around the London circuit before mutual band troubles brought them together. [3]
Formation[edit]
South and Love had always been close friends since childhood and had played in bands that were often booked on the same bill. On March 20th 2015 they wrote their first song as Nova Twins, 'Bad Bitches' [4], which has never been commercially released.[5]. The demo for the song 'Bassline Bitch'[6] attracted the attention of independant label Robotunes[7], an offshoot of veteran promoter Rob Hallet's Robomagic who signed the girls and released their debut self titled EP in 2016.[8]
2017[edit]
Nova Twins spent most of 2017 touring with Prophets of Rage [9] after Tom Morello of Rage Against The Machine named them, 'The best band you've never heard of.' [10] They have since gone on to support, Wolf Alice, Little Simz & Black Honey. [11] 2017 also saw Nova Twins self release the single 'Thelma & Louise'& start their own custom clothing line called 'Bad Stitches'. [12] [13]
