The Noyyal Ninjas Cricket Club (abbreviated as NNCC), is a regional club cricket team[1] based in Coimbatore, India currently playing in the 5th Division Coimbatore League. They are Runners-up in the CDCA League Entry Knock-out Tournament 2017. Ashok is the current captain of the team. The primary home ground of Noyyal Ninjas Cricket Club is Arugula Koundanur MR Garden Ground, Krishna Nagar. The team is currently administered and managed by Noyyal Sports Private Limited.
The leading run scorer of the team is Sasikumar. The leading wicket taker is Muthu. The team includes some aggressive all-rounders like Sasi Kumar, Karthik, Vijay Kumar and Rajadurai. The team has plenty of all-rounders.
Club History[edit]
It is one of the oldest cricket club (previously known as Arumuga Koundanur Cricket Club) formed in Coimbatore. The team originates from Arumuga Koundanur, situated at the southern part of Coimbatore in Tamil Nadu. The cricket team was officially formed in October 2013.
The team proved its strength in its first ever participation in a tournament, that saw the team reach the finals and ended Runner-Up in the Masters Champions Trophy in 2014. Subsequently, the team participated for the first time in 2014 in the CDCA League Entry Knock-out tournament. However the team was not able to win the knock-out matches. They failed to qualify for the next level until 2016. Meanwhile, the team underwent drastic transformation by preparing their own home ground in Arumuga Koundanur, near Perur. In 2017, the team was rebranded as Noyyal Ninjas.
2015 Season[edit]
In 2015, the team participated in several other cricket tournaments after rejigging the team. Kongu Riders secured runner up place in Arumuga Koundanur Knock out tournament conducted in January 2015. The team participated in G-Developers CDCA League Entry Knock out tournament in April 2015 in the name of Kongu CC. They made an early exit in the tournament after losing[2] the opening match to Masters CC,[3] the champions of G-Developers trophy.[4]
From July, Kongu Riders Cricket Club started their preparation work for their home ground in Arumuga Koundanur and played its home matches from August 2015. Subsequently, the team made several changes to its management setup and played home and away games at alternative weeks. From October 2015, all the matches were properly recorded and players were properly trained according to their skills. The team saw record number of fifties being scored as a result of the training. The team won 6 out of 11 matches played in 2015 season.
2016 Season[edit]
The 2016 season started with the preparation of new ground in Teachers Colony. The management decided to play in home ground at alternative weeks. The new ground was prepared by the end of January and matches were conducted there also. The Teachers Colony Ground Association also conducted Tournaments starting from MCC Tournament and Volkswagen Corporate Cricket Tournament. Kongu Riders played 55 matches in 2016, Won 31 and lost 24 matches. Kongu Riders finished as semi-finalist in the MCC Tournament.
2017 Season to Present[edit]
In 2017, the team name was changed to Noyyal Ninjas with a sole objective of qualifying for the CDCA-5th Division League. The team subsequently achieved its goal and came runners-up in the CDCA League Entry Knock-out Tournament 2016-17. Noyyal Ninjas is currently playing in Coimbatore 5th Division League.
