From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

Formed in 2000 by Mayuri and Madhuri Upadhya, Nritarutya is one of India’s foremost dance companies. [1]Nritarutya semantically means the dancing tree, and is led by Artistic director & founder Mayuri Upadhya. The company is headquartered in Bangalore, India, with their studio in Jayanagar, Bangalore.

The Company[edit]

Nritarutya’s work celebrates India’s cultural magnificence and weaves innovation in tradition. Their education wing works towards conditioning, and providing access to the younger generation of dance enthusiasts through numerous training and development projects. The company dancers undergo in-depth training in varied dance forms including classical Indian style, like Bharatanatyam, Indian ballet, Indian folk & ritual form, martial arts and yoga along with contemporary dance.

History[edit]

In 2000, Mayuri Upadhya, Madhuri Upadhya, Sathyanarayan BG, Geetha Ballal, Umesh Naidu and Harini BC started Nritarutya, with an aim to explore the physical capacity of the body. Since then, Nritarutya has been telling wide-ranging stories through dance. With a huge body of work today, Nritarutya treats dance innovatively and is striving to make dance a lucrative career option for dancers. The company has also been rated among the top 3 "dance makers" by the acclaimed magazine "India Today" 2015 annual edition.

Along with performances and creating artistic pieces, Nritarutya’s other initiatives are:
