Kah'trel Allen(born August 21, 1998), professionally known as OG RICH, or simply RICH is an American record producer and Audio Engineer. Raised in Decatur, Georgia, Rich began a production career while in middle school. Rich became best known for his successful Beats / Mixes. Upcoming recordings with Atlanta rap artists such as Rich The Kid, Famous Dex, Mango Foo, Yfn Lucci, Shad da God, and many more up and coming projects with major artists. Rich's first major record is yet to come with his consistency and dedication.
Early life and career
OG Rich grew up in the Eastside region of Atlanta, Georgia. Growing up, he was an accomplished football player but eventually gave up the sport after following his father and brothers’ footsteps. After years of seeing his father and relatives create music, Rich decided he should "try" to make a beat. Since then, Rich has progressed in making beats and engineering as well over the past years. While using his father's computer, he started selling his beats online and to local rappers to afford his own laptop. It was around his mid teenage years that Rich decided to start taking music production/ Audio Engineering as a serious career path.
Production style and influences
OG RICH uses the digital audio workstation, FL Studio along with custom installed VST plugins to compose his beats. Rich's distinct signature trap sound is gritty, grimy, and unique to hip hop street sound, as well as his producer group "THC" The Hit Cartel Records. Despite such similarities, Rich's sound is distinctly known to be more distorted, gritty, rambunctious, and menacing compared to that of his collaborators. Rich is known for his dark melodic and menacing hip hop sound coupled with hard hitting 808 kicks, crisp snare drums, fast hi-hats, frantic synthesizers, sinister lead instruments, and colorfully layered ominous orchestration of synthesized brass. Like many other producers, OG RICH uses a musical signature tag on many of the songs he has produced. His main tag is a down-pitched voice saying "Rich You Turn Me Up On This One." He also uses his team tag, "The hit cartel.”
OG Rich also credits modern technology and the internet, particularly through the monetization of music through streaming sites such as SoundCloud, YouTube, Spotify, and Apple Music that help him make a living off of his passion for hip hop music and making his own production career possible.
Work ethic
Inside the studio, OG RICH is known for his strong work ethic and unique style when producing beats & engineering for artists and getting the finalized track towards the Single/mixtape circuit or for radio play. Rich is beginning to focus on his career as a producer from an entrepreneurial perspective, cultivating talent while learning the ins and outs of the legality in the music production business as well as negotiating deals and making the financial decisions on every track he is responsible for producing / engineering.
Personal life
Allen was born at DeKalb Medical in Decatur, Georgia. His father, Mitchell Wyett, was a recording artist in a group known as "The Chosen Ones" (Relentless ENT).
