The Twentieth Planet from the Sun. Science Fiction[edit]

"The Twentieth Planet from the Sun" is the debut prose work by singer Olha Balandiukh, which she started writing back in 2014 and completed in 2016.

Renowned Andriy Kurkov commented on this book: "Olha Balandiukh's fantastical prose is filled with pure Ukrainian romanticism. This prose captivates, and when you read it, the entire cosmos feels familiar and close, like the city you live in."

The young writer's first novel is a story of struggle, a quest for freedom, love, and self-sacrifice. On a planet that has endured a great cosmic catastrophe and an imperialistic war, people have forgotten who they are, and the true history of their nation has turned into legends that few believe in. But every nation has its heroes. And even though sometimes one cannot see a task through to the end, others will surely take their place, perhaps with better fortune. The most important thing is for the memory of the past to persist among the people, even if only in the form of legends. Because there will always be someone who believes in them. And love and the desire for freedom will help overcome the greatest challenges on the path to the goal.

Voice of Ukrainian Nature[edit]

The Voice of Ukrainian Nature is a musical and visual collection that encompasses styles such as folk, ethnics, shamanism, and meditation, inspired by the beauty of Ukrainian nature, particularly our Carpathian Mountains. The music, performance, and videos are created by singer and musician Olga Balandiuk. Among the instruments she frequently uses are her native instrument, the violin, as well as the piano, djembe, guitar, and various vocal techniques, including folk, operatic, throat singing, and overtone singing.

The singer often travels through the Ukrainian Carpathians, films them, and creates nature soundtracks based on what she experiences in our Ukraine. Currently, the collection includes 9 compositions with accompanying videos. The idea was born in October 2020 when Olha traveled and lived in the Carpathians for ten days at a high-altitude research station of the University of Franko, Menchul Polonyna at an altitude of 1210 meters above sea level, near the village of Kvasy in the Rahiv district of the Zakarpattia region.
