Oh Sung-jong (Korean: 오성종; born March 04, 1992), commonly known by his stage name IONE or Taeha is a South Korean singer and songwriter under Million Market.[1] He is a former member of the boy band Speed.[2]

Career[edit]

Early life[edit]

IONE was born on March 4, 1992. He was a trainee in DSP Media during his second year of high school and a prospective member of A-JAX. He joined SPEED in 2012 after getting a call from the CEO of MBK Entertainment.[3]

Speed (2012 to 2015)[edit]

IONE promoted with SPEED under the stage name Taeha. SPEED made their official debut on January 17, 2013, with the song "It's Over", an electronic dance song. The 15-minute drama music video for their debut track is based on the Gwangju Uprising and features actors such as Park Bo-young, Ji Chang-wook, Ha Seok-jin and A Pink's Naeun.[4][5][6]

In late 2015, it was reported that Speed had disbanded after their profile was removed from MBK Entertainment's website, but MBK Entertainment has not confirmed the reports.

Solo activities[edit]

IONE debuted as a soloist on June 24, 2016 with his first digital single "Back" and has consistently released songs in R&B genre that he wrote and composed himself.[7][8] He was one of the 117 trainees who auditioned on the YG survival program MIXNINE in November 2017 alongside his SPEED bandmate, Woo Taewoon.[9]

IONE signed with SE M&M in 2018.[10] He released his first mini-album Idea on September 06, 2019.[11][12]

On August 4, 2021, Million Market announced that they have signed an exclusive contract with IONE.[13][14][15]

On August 16, 2021, IONE released his recent digital single 'Vaccine' in collaboration with Woo Taewoon featuring Yoon Bo-mi, a member of the South Korean girl group Apink.[16] On October 23, 2021, IONE released 'You Know' which is his second digital single in collaboration with Woo Taewoon.[17]
