Ohrid Astronomy Association was founded in 2004, then as an Amateur Astronomical Society by a group of astronomy enthusiasts from Ohrid.
Initially, the initiative was created by Stojan Stojanovski who later, by photographing several astronomical events, creating an OAA website and posting on the Internet, contacted the Skopje Astronomical Society, which helps him realize and start OAA activities in Ohrid.
During that time, OAA photos were published in the print magazine Emiter[1], and in 2005 the world's number one web portal for space and astronomy, Space.com contacted OAA as it began a successful collaboration and published photos of astronomical events.
To date, OAA photographs taken from the largest astronomical events of the year are among the top 10 in the world, and over the years have been downloaded and published on Space.com, CNN.com, FOX News, NBC News, etc. With such a theme of work, follow-up, and photography, OAA is successfully ranked in the world, and in addition to locally inspiring young people in the field of astronomy, it directly helps to promote the city of Ohrid and its surroundings with a combination of astrophotography and nature. owns this region.[2]
