Olayinka Thomas-Ogboja (born Olayinka Opeke on 27 June 1980), is a Nigerian media practitioner.[1] She is the CEO of D’Acero Limited,[2][3] a foremost brand management company[4] and Drape Kings, an events décor company both based in Lagos, Nigeria. She also connects, empowers and celebrates Nigerian women through her TOWN (Thomas O. Women Network) initiative.
Early life[edit]
She hails from Ondo State but was born and bred in Ibadan, Oyo State. The last child of four children, she was brought up in a middle class environment. Her parents are highly-placed members of the academia in Nigeria and practicing Christians.[5]
Thomas.O as she is fondly called, graduated from the University of Ibadan (UI) with a B.Sc. in Geography and M.Sc. in Geographical and Information Systems (GIS). She later proceeded to the United Kingdom where she obtained another M.Sc. in Project Management from Queen Mary University of London. She is PRINCE2 Certified from the Project Management Institute (PMI), United Kingdom.
She is currently undergoing a doctoral study at Walden University, Minnesota, USA, where she is specializing in Entrepreneurship.
Career[edit]
She started her career in Zenith Bank Plc in 2006 as an Executive Officer before she travelled to the United Kingdom in 2007 to pursue a Masters in Project Management. She returned to Nigeria in 2008 where she resumed at Stanbic IBTC Bank as a Relationship Manager.[6] In 2010 she attended the London School of Photography and Photofusion to study the art of photography, later resigning to start up her photo studio called Kikis Photography, situated in the heart of Wuse 2, Abuja.[7] Her creative abilities and love for photography led her to establish D’Acero Limited, a creative agency based in the heart of Lagos. After stabilizing the brand company, she later set up Drape Kings, an event décor company, another channel for her to explore her creative prowess. Her latest project is Thomas O. Women Network (TOWN), a borderless networking platform aimed at connecting business and career focused Nigerian women all around the world. She also facilitates trainings in her areas of expertise and has partnered with Heritage Bank and the United States Consulate, Lagos in this capacity.
Olayinka has attended trainings all over the world including Miami, Lagos, London, Dubai and other places.
Community work[edit]
In 2008, she volunteered with Provide, a UK-based NGO to organize Christmas parties for children in homes, raising funds for economically devastated countries, for example, the Burma cyclone victims and earthquake victims in China.
Personal life[edit]
Thomas O. lives in Lagos and is happily married. She is known for her eclectic style.[8]
