Old Town Playhouse
Old Town Playhouse (OTP) is a community theatre organization in Traverse City, Michigan. Founded in 1960, the organization produces theatrical performances, educational programming, and youth theatre activities serving Northwest Michigan.[1]
The organization was originally established as the Traverse City Civic Players before adopting the name Old Town Playhouse after relocating in the 1970s to a former church building in downtown Traverse City.[2]
Old Town Playhouse presents a yearly mainstage season featuring musicals, dramas, comedies, and youth productions. The organization also operates the Young Company, an educational theatre program for children and teenagers.[3]
The theatre has received regional media coverage for its productions, community arts programming, and anniversary seasons.[4][5][6]
The organization’s main theatre is located in a historic building on East Eighth Street in Traverse City that originally served as First Christian Church, constructed in 1903.[7]
