History[edit]

The Olde Boston Bulldogge was the progenitor of the Boston Terrier.[1][2] The breed is an original and its shape is denoted in many old historical photographs.[1][2] The OBB weighed between 20 and 40 pounds with an average height between 12 and 15 inches at the withers and is a shorthaired breed.[1][2][5] Olde Boston Bulldogges are characterized by stable temperaments. They are outgoing, lively, intelligent and loyal. They are dogs of small to medium height and are above standard weight. They are most commonly characterized by their muscular bodies. Olde Boston Bulldogges have short, smooth coats that are usually black, red or black and white. These dogs live between 10 and 14 years.
