Gessography[edit]

Oleh Denysenko. "Gessography" exhibition

Oleh Denysenko as a devoted etcher has long been captivated by the idea of making an innovation in art; rejuvenating and reanimating printmaking, giving it special expression through color, volume, and spiritual depth of Byzantine icons. Oleh Denysenko was always fascinated with the age of Renaissance and its most prominent figure, Leonardo da Vinci[7]. Taking the famous Renaissance man as his role model, Oleh Denysenko widened the scope of his work by exploring the possibilities of a number of different genres and techniques. By then Oleh Denysenko’s son, Alexander Denysenko, a film director and visionary, had been for quite some time a curious observer of his father’s experiments with various art techniques and their permutation. He realized that Oleh Denysenko’s strong foundation in intaglio, his experience in sculpture, and his search for originality in the treatment of levkas is precisely what constitutes the basis of his genuine artistic identity.[8]

When after a decade of my creative search, Alexander and I, we started working in a strong tandem, then, after several years of joint efforts, we attained the result I envisaged long before. I felt that that was really what I had been searching for a long time.

— Oleh Denysenko.[9]

Gessography – a new kind of fine art, became the result of more than a decade of Oleh Denysenko's creative experiments. Gessography, rooted in tradition and driven by innovation, in synergy of intaglio, iconography, painting, and sculpture.[7][6][4]

The national premiere of gessography took place on the 15th of December 2020 in White World Modern Art Center in Kyiv. The exhibition was organized by Ukrainian Catholic University.[9][8][10]

Gessography Exhibition had a charitable element to it. Oleh and Alexander Denysenko donated the largest 2–meter artwok "Melody of Hope" to the charity auction for the support of talented students of Ukrainian Catholic University. Also, part of the funds raised from the sale of each painting was passed to the scholarship for talented students of UCU.

AETHER[edit]

Oleh Denysenko and Alexander Denysenko created a unique brand – artistic attires for iPhone. These are the world’s first mobile paintings; authentic works of art.[8][9][10]

Charity[edit]

Oleh and Alexander Denysenko aim to renew not only modern art, but also the very idea of charity.[11]

We have a great ambition; to renew the understanding of charity. Many people see charity as sacrifice, but we tend to see it as an investment. After all, Ukrainian Catholic University brings up active people who see their mission in creating qualitative changes in our life. We have to learn to make our own benefits and interests serve the common good. Social need have outrun the selfish ones. Today is the day when we find our creative Self by doing good to the society together.

— Alexander Denysenko.[7][9]

Oleh Denysenko has long been a participant of artistic symposia hosted by UCU, at which the university brings together famous artists like Mykola Zhuravel, Vladyslv Sheryshevskyi, and other. Artists create paintings that are then auctioned. The money gained from the auctions cover the scholarship for talented students that cannot afford tuition by themselves.
