Olentangy Commons is a planned development residential and residential neighborhood[1] located in northwest Columbus, Ohio. The definition of the boundary of this community varies because the areas surrounding the original 65-acre (263,045 square meters) site of the Olentangy Commons Apartment have been developed into commercial and residential neighborhoods. Currently, Olentangy Commons encompasses the Olentangy Commons Apartment, to which the whole community is entitled. The Olentangy Commons Apartment provides a large variety of amenities including a swimming pool with deck, a 24-hour fitness center, basketball and tennis courts, and dog parks. Conveniently located off the 315 expressway near Henderson Road, The Olentangy Commons Apartment is 15 minutes from the Ohio State University campus and downtown Columbus, where the best restaurants, shops, and clubs are located in central Columbus.[2]
History
The land occupied by the modern-day Olentangy Commons Apartment was settled in 1806 by soldiers who fought in the American Revolution. In 1856, the site of the modern-day Olentangy Commons apartment became part of Clinton and Perry Townships, with landholders from Groton, Massachusetts, building the first small school building the same year. Residential development began in the 1950s due to population growth in northwest Columbus, Ohio. Olentangy River Road expanded from two to four lanes in 1956. The development of the Olentangy Commons Apartment began in 1972 and has been renovated several times since.[3] Nowadays, Olentangy Commons has evolved into a well-established middle-class residential neighborhood in northwest Columbus, Ohio.[1] The real estate of this community is primarily made up of spacious and affordable 1, 2, and 3-bedroom apartment homes for rent.[4] 39.3% of the people living here are between 18–29 years old. 24.2% of the residents in this neighborhood have received post-secondary education.[5]

The officially planned 65-acre (263,045 square meters) Olentangy Commons Apartment is bordered by Jasonway Avenue and Deacon Circle to the north, W Henderson Road to the south, Olentangy River Road to the east, and Knightsbridge Blvd to the west. The commonly acknowledged boundary of Olentangy Commons comprises surrounding areas when local residents refer to it. The stretching areas include Olentangy Plaza and Knightsbridge healthcare center to the north. The commonly acknowledged boundary of the Olentangy Commons is bordered by Bethel Road to the north, W. Henderson Road to the south, the Olentangy River to the east, and Shuster Road to the west. The general zoning category of Olentangy Commons is Multi-family, and the effective date of Olentangy Commons was April 8, 1969.[1]

Olentangy Commons has several financial institutions within the community. Some of the financial institutions are nationwide financial franchises, and others are small local banks. Nationwide Insurance - Ernie F Epitropoulos is a branch of the nationwide mutual insurance company located on the eastern side of the Olentangy Commons Apartment. In the northeastern corner of the Olentangy Commons community, a branch of Key Bank is currently in operation. Inside the Olentangy Plaza, there is a Chase ATM, and it is the only ATM in this entire community. Right on Bethel Road, a local bank named BMI Federal Credit Union is another financial institution currently serving the financial needs of the community residents.
Entertainment

There are a large number of retail chains, grocery stores, restaurants, coffee shops, and clothing stores located in this neighborhood. A couple of nationwide retail franchises, including The Walgreens Company and CVS Pharmacy, are also operating their businesses in this area. One of the most successful grocery stores located in this neighborhood is CAM International Market, which is one of the largest Asian grocery stores in the city of Columbus. Customers enjoy shopping in this grocery store because of the high-quality food they supply. Right next to the CAM International Market, an Asian café named JiuThai is a popular dining destination because they serve authentic Western-style Chinese cuisines. In addition, residents also have many other options for dinner, including Korean barbecue, Japanese sushi, Indian cuisines, and Mexican tacos. The Anheuser-Busch Sports Park is a 56.70-acre government-owned open space park on the eastern side of the Olentangy Commons Apartment, which includes eight regulation ball diamonds. This sports park normally acts as a host to many local and national tournaments and events due to its ample parking space.[6]
Bill McDonald Athletic Complex is a large fitness center inside the Anheuser-Busch Sports Park. The courts inside the Bill McDonald Athletic Complex can only be reserved for two hours. Reservations can be made at the reception desk or through their online reservation system. Reservations must be made at least 3 days in advance. Any attempts to reserve a court within less than 3 days must be done at the reception desk.
Education Service

Our Lady of Bethlehem School was established in 1956 by the Sisters of the Poor Child Jesus, based in the Netherlands. It is currently located at 4567 Olentangy River Road, Columbus, OH, which is just next to the Olentangy Commons Apartment. This school provides various programs, including infant care, pre-kindergarten, kindergarten, and preschool.
Giggles and Grins Childcare Center Inc is another licensed child learning center inside the Olentangy Commons community, dedicated to infant and child full-service care. They brand themselves as a safe, clean, and comforting environment that provides a "home away from home" atmosphere for children.
Healthcare Service
Olentangy Commons offers multiple healthcare services. Riverside Pediatric Associates provides a variety of medical specialties. Knightsbridge Surgery Center is a surgery center that serves patients with high-quality individualized care. The Forum at Knightsbridge is a senior living community that provides elders with a quiet, social, and recreational living environment.

Columbus Alzheimer Care Center is located on the eastern side of Olentangy Commons and provides high-quality care and comfort to families in the northwest Columbus area.[8]

Knightsbridge Surgery Center is dedicated to providing high-quality individualized care to its patients. They adopt the "patient-focused approach," intended to promote long-term health and well-being.[10]
Central Ohio Colon And Rectal Center OhioHealth Colon and Rectal Surgeons (formerly known as Central Ohio Colon and Rectal Center, Inc.) is one of the oldest colorectal surgery practice centers in northwest Columbus. Originally founded by Dr. Ralph Samson and Dr. William Stewart in April 1969, the practice added Dr. Pedro Aguilar, who became the current President of COCRC in 1981.[11]
Public Transportation
COTA Bus Lines 18 and 95 run by the Olentangy Commons Apartment and its surrounding neighborhoods. Line 95 can take residents to the eastern Columbus area. Line 18 can take residents to the central Columbus area, including the Ohio State University campus and downtown area. The COTA bus runs from approximately 5 a.m. to 12 p.m. every weekday and is free for students at Ohio State University.
