Olga Kononenko (born 1991 in Chelyabinsk) was second vice-miss to the Miss Russia 2010.
Biography
Kononenko lives in the Leninsky district of Chelyabinsk and studied at the Lyceum No. 37. She entered the modeling business quite by accident. At one of the exhibitions, where she came with her parents, a model agency scout was present. She offered to try a casting. Kononenko was then 12 years old.[1]
Olga Kononenko’s path to this prestigious competition was not easy. A pupil of the Models agency, she participated in the contest "Miss Chelyabinsk 2007," won second place, and received the maximum number of nominations. But then she was not sent to the federal competition. In late 2009, she was lucky: during a visit to Chelyabinsk, regional director of the Miss Russia competition, Marat Kudusov, noticed her and offered to try her hand at the 2010 competition.[2]
By tradition, the Russian competition from the city of Chelyabinsk had to send the winner of the contest "Miss Chelyabinsk." Last year, the crown went to the pretty Julia Safarova; however, she never went to Moscow. Looking at the beauty’s portfolio, capital organizers asked Julia to find a replacement. Now the competition emphasizes the model’s appearance and proportions of figures, but Safarova distracted from this format. The organizers themselves proposed the candidature of Olga Kononenko – a girl who was Chelyabinsk’s Vice-Miss in 2007. Even then she pleased the jury, but was too young to defile on the podium "Miss Russia" – Olga had just turned 16. And two years later she was lucky. She became the second vice-miss to the Miss Russia 2010.[3]
Kononenko is now[when?] studying at the Chelyabinsk City University and plans to continue her modeling career.[1]
