Irina Sharipova (Uzbek: Irina Sharipova; Russian: Ирина Шарипова; born 7 February 1992 in Bukhara, Uzbekistan) is a Russian model, beauty pageant winner who was Miss Tatarstan 2010 and first runner-up in Miss Russia 2010.
Sharipova represented[2] Russia in Miss World 2010 on 30 October 2010 in Sanya, China, and placed in the top 25 Semifinals.
Early life[edit]
Sharipova was born and raised for seven years in Bukhara, Uzbekistan[3] to an Uzbek father, whom she never met, and a mother of Russian, Ukrainian, and Tatar roots. Aged seven, she relocated to her grandmother in the village of Sviyazhskiy, Apastovsky District, Tatarstan. Her mother Elena Sharipova, has also achieved success in beauty contests: in 1989, she won the "Miss Bukhara" and in 1990, became the runner-up of "Miss Uzbekistan".
Sharipova then moved to Kazan to study at the Kazan State Technical University, specializing in fashion design, and plans to finish her studies.[4]
Her mother still lives in Uzbekistan.[4]
Beauty pageants and modeling career[edit]
At the national contest for "Miss Tatarstan", Sharipova entered by accident. On a shopping trip, she came to look at the contestants in the qualifying round and was spotted by the organizers, who picked her out of the crowd and persuaded her to audition. With no experience in pageants and modeling, she was surprised to win Miss Tatarstan title on 31 January 2010. Sharipova won the title of the first "Vice-Miss Russia 2010" in March 2010, winning a grant to study at any university in the world.[4] Sharipova represented Russia in Miss World 2010 placing in Top 25 semifinals.
In 2012, Sharipova signed with renowned international modeling agency Women Management. In 2013, she began appearing on the pages of fashion magazines, including in the cover of Marie Claire, as well as gracing in high fashion runways. In September 2014, Sharipova opened the Dolce & Gabbana 2015 spring/summer collection show on Milan Fashion Week. Sharipova has also walked for other top fashion brands and designers, such as: Chanel, Versace, Givenchy, Marc Jacobs, Ralph Lauren, Nina Ricci, Oscar de la Renta, Dsquared2, Ermanno Scervino, Carolina Herrera, Giorgio Armani, Kenzo, Rag & Bone, Sonia Rykiel, TopShop, Tory Burch, Akris, Moschino, Vivienne Westwood, Jeremy Scott, Philipp Plein, Valentin Yudashkin and others. Sharipova has also done commercial modeling; shooting catalogues for Victoria's Secret.
On 2 December 2014 for the first time, Sharipova took part in the final show of Victoria's Secret Fashion Show 2014 in London, along with another former Miss Russia contestant and model, Kate Grigorieva.[5] Sharipova has appeared in campaign ads for Dolce & Gabbana.
