Olive Miriam Buchholz Parmelee

Olive Miriam Buchholz Parmelee (born 1913) is a painter living in Los Angeles.[1]

Biography[edit]

She was born in Dubuque, Iowa,[2] the oldest of three daughters of botanist John Theodore Buchholz.[3] She studied fine art at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in the 1930s graduating in 1934.[4][5] In 1938 she was included in the Art Institute of Chicago's 42nd Annual Chicago and Vicinity Artists exhibition. She is listed in this exhibition under her maiden name, Buchholz; the painting included in this exhibition is titled Ruth.[6] She married artist Theodore Parmelee and moved with him to Los Angeles in 1938,[7] where he worked as an animator.[8] She maintains a studio in Urbana, Illinois.[9]
