Ásdís Sif Gunnarsdóttir (born 1976) is an Icelandic artist who is currently based in Reykjavik, Iceland. Ásdís Sif's artwork crosses the boundaries between many artistic mediums by transforming the monotony of our everyday into a magical visual prose. Ásdís Sif is perhaps best known as a Performance Artist and Video Installation Artist, however her poetry has also traveled the globe and received critical acclaim with Collaborations with Composers like Pall Ragnarsson and Ragnar Kjartansson. Although Ásdís Sif is from Iceland, she was originally born in Madison Wisconsin to Gunnar Valtyrsson and Solveig Thorsteinsdottir, she moved to Iceland with her parents at the age of 4 after their medical studies had been completed. Ásdís Sif received her BFA with honors at SVA in New York City and received her MFA in New Genres at UCLA working with her professor's Chris Burden, Pipilotti Rist, and Paul Mcarthy. Ásdís Sif moved back to Iceland in 2004 and established her Art Studio and home. Ásdís Sif´s art work is in permanent collections around the globe and she exhibits her work internationally in Galleries, Museums, and Theaters.
