Oma Akatugba is a Germany-based Nigerian international sports broadcast journalist and the CEO of Sportsbrand Ltd. Akatugba regularly travels, covering the activities of Nigerian footballers in the diaspora under the platform of his tv magazine, African Internationals.[1][2] His main coverage area is Europe among others. Akatugba is known for his style, which has earned him both praise and criticism from football fans and followers so that he has been dubbed ‘Mr.controversial’. He has anchored, analyzed and presented on various radio and TV stations in Nigeria.[3]

Born Omavua Akatugba (13 May 1983) in Lagos, Nigeria.

He is engaged to his German partner, Marina Soehnholz.The couple has two children, a boy and a girl.Their first child, Tega-Helene, was born in September 2014 and the second in 2016,[4]

Akatugba started sports journalism full-time at the age of twenty-two. In 2000, he anchored his first show on NTA; the TV sports broadcast.

In 2002, he was the HOD of sports department on Galaxy Television before working on Mundial Sports International in 2004.While at Mundial Sports International, he produced and co-anchored the popular international TV football show with Felix Okugbe, before he later anchored the show. He had his internship with the British Broadcasting Corporation.

He covered his first international football tournament in 2006, which is the 25th edition of the African Cup of Nations, the association football championship in Africa. It was hosted by Egypt from the 20th of January to the 10th of February.

In 2009, he covered the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup held in Dubai. He started his own sports broadcast company Sportsbrand Ltd. in 2008. That same year, Oma presented Sportsbrand, a program that aired until 2010. He also anchored Soccer zone on radio and TV. In April 2016, he had the Laureus Award interview with Anthony Joshua [5] on Supersport.[6]

Akatugba is among Nigerian sports journalists who have the access to Nigerian footballers in the diaspora. He also covers European competitions such as the UEFA Champions league and the UEFA Europa league.

Akatugba has interviewed footballers such as Pep Guardiola, Kenneth Omeruo,[7] Didier Drogba,[8] Jose Mourinho,Carles Puyol,[9] and Anthony Ujah[10] He is registered with FIFA, CAF, AFC, and UEFA.
