Ondřej Hrabal

Ondřej Hrabal (* 5 January 1995 Uherské Hradiště, Czech Republic) is a Czech poet and slam poet. His work has been published under the pen names O. L. Hrabal or Ondřej L. Hrabal.

Life[edit]

He was raised in Buchlovice near Uherské Hradiště. Ondřej Hrabal has a bachelor's degree in Philosophy and English Philology from the Faculty of Arts of Palacký University Olomouc, where he is currently completing his master's degree. He also studied Philosophy at the University of the Basque Country in Spain and Creative Writing at University of East Anglia in Norwich, United Kingdom.

He organizes various cultural events and festivals such as the literary festival Inverze in the city of Ostrava or the literary section of the Summer Film School in the town of Uherské Hradiště. He is the CEO of Nugis Finem Publishing. He also works as a copywriter and an editor.

Poetry slam[edit]

He has been performing since 2014. He won the Slam Poetry Championship of the Czech Republic in 2018.

He has co-authored a novel Ydris: kniha první from the fantasy saga Odkaz tastedarů in 2017.

He made his debut with a collection of poems Nezkoušej se usmát (Don't Try to Smile) in 2019.
