One More Level S.A. is a Polish video game developer based in Kraków. Listed on NewConnect stock exchange since 2018 after merging with Laser Med.[1]. The company is best known for developing Ghostrunner (2020).
History[edit]
One More Level S.A. was founded in 2014 as a merger of two smaller companies – Nimbi Studios and Tap It Games[2]. The studio’s first production was a PC port of Deadlings[3].
In 2015, One More Level was both the developer and publisher of Warlocks vs Shadows[4]. The game’s production was preceded by a Kickstarter campaign.
In 2016, on behalf of Artifex Mundi, the company produced Crimson Lily[2].
In 2015, God's Trigger was announced[5]. Techland became the publisher for the game[6], which was released in 2019 [7].
Ghostrunner, the biggest success for the company, was announced in 2019[8], and released on 27 October 2020. It’s a dynamic gameplay-driven action game set in the cyberpunk world [9]. It was released on Windows, PlayStation4 and Xbox One, and later also on Nintendo Switch. Developed by One More Level, it was co-published by Polish All in! Games S.A. and Italian 505 Games S.p.A. Additionally, two external development studios, 3D Realms and Slipgate Ironworks, were also involved[10]. The game was very well received. It has over 92% positive reviews on Steam. [11].On review aggregator Metacritic, Ghostrunner on Windows holds a Metascore of 81[12]. The studio received a number of awards for the game, the most important of which were: Best Polish Game of 2020 during Digital Dragons 2021[13] and Best Indie Game of the Decade at Digital Dragons 2022[14]. Ghostrunner also had extensive post-release support, culminating in a big expansion called Ghostrunner: Project_Hel, which was released on 3 March 2022.
In 2020, CEO of the studio Szymon Bryła and vice-president Radosław Ratusznik were both nominated for a Paszport Polityki award in the Digital Culture category[15].
On 13 May 2021, Digital Bros, the parent company of 505 Games announced that Ghostrunner 2 was in development for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S[16].
The studio is also working on a second project, Cyber Slash. The title was originally owned by Polish publisher All In! Games, but in 2022, the rights were bought by One More Level[17]
