Onespace is a unified, professional team of architects and interior designers creating carefully considered design solutions for contemporary spaces based out of Toronto, Ontario. onespace has active and non-active projects throughout Canada. Led by the CEO, the team consists of 20 professional staff, including Architectural Technologists, Architects and Interior Designers.
History[edit]
onespace was founded in 1964, originally known as Atkins Architect. onespace has always consisted of a dedicated team of designers, actively listening to the business needs of each client and achieving high quality design solutions with a positive influence on their surroundings, the general public and fellow team members.
The firm began to gain recognition after placing 2nd in an International Design Competition for the Kentucky Welcome Center, Park City, Kentucky in 2000. This success was followed with its first of many BILD Awards for best residential suite design in 2006 awards. Of significance was the firm’s transformation of the former Imperial Oil Headquarters at 111 St Clair Avenue West, Toronto into a luxurious condominium residence. Since then the firm has been recognized for other notable projects that have been presented with awards from BILD, OHBA, Heritage Toronto Award of Merit, Town of Markham Environmental Design Award and the Association of Landscape Contractors of Colorado Excellence in Landscape.
Specialities[edit]
onespace specializes in multi-unit residential, mixed-use and hospitality projects of contemporary styling as their primary design aesthetic for both their architectural and interior design services.
To date the company has designed 20 hotels, 12 low-rise condominiums, 25 mid-rise condominiums and 25 high-rise condominiums, along with multiple other commercial, retail projects and single-family residences.
The company has also been involved in two high level projects, The Residences of The Imperial Plaza in Toronto, ON that required transforming the building entirely from commercial to residential units. The Harbour Club in Port Dalhousie, St. Catharines ON transformed a turn-of-the-century factory into residential units.
