Osagie Alonge (born December 19, 1985) is a prominent Nigerian entertainment journalist, music commentator, A&R and public speaker. He is currently the Editor-In-Chief at Pulse. Best known for his webs series 'Facts Only with Osagie Alonge'.[1][2]

Early Life and Career[edit]

Osagie was born and raised in Lagos, Nigeria, the son of Dele Alonge and Amaechi Alonge. He is of Benin, Igbo and Yoruba descent.

Osagie started blogging in 2008 while working at a Cyber Café.[3] He also worked a side gig at Eko FM 89.7 with On-Air-Personality Dr Flavour. Alonge is well known for public speaking in February 2015, he spoke at a Social Media Week Lagos masterclass and in May, he spoke at the New Media Conference.

Nigerian Entertainment Today (NET)[edit]

In 2011, Osagie was hired as a web content uploader and staff writer at popular newspaper outfit Nigerian Entertainment Today and he was latter promoted to Chief Correspondent where he gained prominence, writing exclusive and breaking news centred on Nigerian entertainment and showbiz.[4] In 2013, he was promoted to Assistant Manager. He resigned in August 2014, picking up a job with Pulse Nigeria.[5]

X3M Music[edit]

In February 2011, Osagie joined popular record label X3M Music as the head of A&R. He worked closely with the label and their artistes on publicity, online reputation and music distribution. In late 2012, he resigned from the position to an advisory role at the label.

Pulse Nigeria[edit]

In August 2014, Osagie shocked the media industry, resigning from NET and picking up a job with rival media house Pulse Nigeria in the capacity of Project Lead and subsequently Editor-In-Chief.

Facts Only with Osagie Alonge[edit]

In October 2014, Osagie kicked off his YouTube web series ‘Facts Only with Osagie Alonge’, produced by Pulse TV.[6][7] Each episode of the show sees Osagie discuss, analyse and give constructive criticism on several topics in Nigerian Showbiz and entertainment business.[8][9][10] The show has been referenced heavily on celebrity, entertainment blogs and on social media.[11][12][13][14][15][16][17]

Awards[edit]

In 2014, Osagie won the award for 'Young Journalist of the Year' at the TUSH Awards.[18]
