Oscar Yildiz is an Australian politician who currently serves as a councillor in the City of Merri-bek. He has previously served as mayor between 2010 and 2011, and again from 2012 to 2013.[1]
Yildiz attended Coburg North Primary School and Coburg High School, and graduated from LaTrobe University. Before entering politics, he was a school teacher.[2]
Yildiz was elected to the Moreland City Council in 2008 and was re-elected in 2012 and 2016 as a member of the Labor Party.[3][4]
In 2018, Yildiz left Labor to contest the electorate of Pascoe Vale at the Victorian state election.[5] He was unsuccessful, achieving 23.5% of the primary vote and 41.4% of the two-candidate-preferred vote.[6]
Yildiz was opposed to the City of Moreland changing its name to the City of Merri-bek.[7]

In 2021, Yildiz was part of the formation of the Victorians Party, a centrist political party.[8]
The party planned to contest every seat at the 2022 Victorian state election. It was registered with the Victorian Electoral Commission, but withdrew citing financial difficulties in August 2022.[9]
Candidates for the party included fellow Merri-bek councillor Helen Pavlidis-Mihalakos, City of Melbourne councillor Philip Le Liu and comedian Gabriel Rossi. Yildiz planned to run in the Northern Metropolitan Region.[10]
