Osmar Pinto Junior is a Brazilian scientist and writer, specialists in the study of storm and lightning. The first South American scientist to belong to the International Conference on Atmospheric Eletricity(ICAE).[1][2][3][4][5]
Biography[edit]
Born in Porto Alegre (RS), he graduated in Electronic Engineering from the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio Grande do Sul (1977), soon after moved to São José dos Campos (SP) to study master's degree at the National Institute for Space Research[6][7] (INPE), concluding the same in 1979, at the same time with studies and research in the area of atmospheric electricity (lightning), projects the pillars of what in 1995 would be the formation of the first lightning research group created in Brazil (ELAT Group). In 2010 , it received the "Faz a Diferença[8][9]" award from the newspaper O Globo , in the Science/History category, for contributing with their work and research to transform Brazil into a better country.
