Our Lady of Lourdes Shrine, Perambur[1][2][3] is a famous Marian shrine situated in Perambur, Chennai in Tamil Nadu.[4] This Catholic Church is devoted to Our Lady of Lourdes. This church is a replica of the 'Great Basilica of Lourdes'.[5] Lourdes Shrine, Perambur is listed (S.No. 23) in Heritage Buildings, announced by CMDA, Chennai.[6]

This catholic church is located on Paper Mills road in Perambur, Chennai at an altitude of 32 m with the geographical coordinates of: 13°06'32.8"N, 80°14'28.0"E (i.e. 13.1091°N, 80.2411°E).
History[edit]
In the year 1879, a chapel was formed in Perambur. In the year 1903, Perambur chapel was raised to the status of independent Parish.[7] It was come under Archdiocese of Madras in the year 1928. Its ground breaking was done in the year 1951 and the lower church was completed in the year 1953. In the year 1954, three bronze bells were blessed to use. And the upper church was erected completely in the year 1960.
Pilgrimage[edit]
In the year 1961, Fourteenth 'National Pilgrimage' was taken place and thousands of pilgrims flocked.
Anniversary Celebrations[edit]
Anniversary Celebrations are going on every year. People in and around Perambur area enjoy annual celebrations. 122nd year Annual Celebrations were celebrated joyfully during the month of February, 2022.

During the second week of the month of February, every year, Annual Feast is carried out.

Communion to the sick, Mass procession, Special mass, Adoration, Marian Day, St. Bernadette's day, Feast of Joseph, etc.

Blinking Statue[edit]
During the 114th annual feast celebrations on 11th February, 2014, it was observed that the statue of Mary blinked for a while and devotees from Chennai surroundings rushed to the church and talked about the miracle.
