Our World of Text is an interactive website that was launched sometime in 2017 as a remake of another website called Your World of Text.
Overview[edit]
The website serves as an infinite grid of text can be editable by any user, The changes made by other people who appear on a user's screen as they happen. Everyone starts in the same place (which is the spawn point), and users are able the scroll across the world with their mouse.[1]
Any user can draw and edit text on the website, people create links to seperate worlds, a chat room exists at the bottom corner of the screen for users to talk to each other.
People have made numerous scripts that can be added on the console to do things such as move characters around or paste images. Any character in the Unicode database can be used on the grid, including the legacy computing symbols.
Many people use this website to draw ASCII art.
As of 2023, the website is hosted in Berlin, Germany.
Controversies[edit]
Our World of Text has been the subject of controversy for the community's horrific behavior. Users have been known to draw Nazi symbols, promotion of LGBTQ propaganda, frequent usage of the N-word, and graphic depictions of pornographic content.
Many users on the platform have been known to hate many users of another website analogous to OWOT known as Textwall. Since then, a period of tensions between them have always been sparked ever since Textwall's founding.
The site administator, "fp" tries fixing things back when people erase an entire portion of the spawn board. The site administrators such as InfraRaven can also disable scripts.
One user named PDP had been accused of pasting graphic child pornographic images on the website and also provides links to illegal websites including onion links to illegal child pornography websites.
Another user named "JunoTehPlanet" had his personal info doxxed on the website so as a result, his company Gerryscute GEB took retaliatory steps against the website and launched sanctions against the website and its users. he also tried to report the website to the US government's identity theft reporting website until the website operators told him not to do so.[2] JunoTehPlanet also stated that if the website was reported, it would be taken down. Thus,Our World of Text might not survive long thanks to them.
There have been cases where the rating poll sometimes gets rigged, for example; spambots rigging worlds in the rating polls.
What World Of The Day’s are[edit]
The WOTD is a user selected world that stays in the spawn for a limited about of time. The time periods are inconsistent, so don’t think there are multiple worlds a week.
