PJ Butta
PJ Butta is a legendary Radio Personality from Los Angeles, California. Born and raised in San Diego, PJ moved to LA County to attend the University of La Verne.
PJ Butta is what the streets call an “OG” who has been working in Los Angeles radio for 27 years now.
The “smooth like butta” voiced PJ lucked into his first radio gig at KKBT “The Beat” by talking his way into an on-air position, becoming the first Filipino-American to be on the radio in LA. He also landed another first, as the first DJ to break the news of Tupac Shakur’s death in 1996, moving the industry forward by helping the careers of artists like Jay-Z, Alicia Keys, and The Fugees with his Butta Bootleg new music releases.
He made his first television debut as himself on the popular T.V. sitcom, "Moesha" in 1996 and continued his television career on "Sister, Sister" playing a DJ in 1998 and "The Parkers" in 2001. PJ Butta is still in LA on 93.5 KDAY, worldwide on the internationally syndicated World Chart Show, and is a Professor at Mt. San Antonio College teaching students how they can luck into their own first radio gig.
Currently, PJ is the host and producer of the digital series "The Nightcap", an R&B show that celebrates iconic artists from past to present, hosted by PJ Butta. Inside stories, toasts to one another, and open conversations about sex and love.
