Pablo M. Vidarte (born March 29, 1996) is a business man, investor and inventor.[1][2] He's currently Chief Executive Officer at Arkyne Technologies[3][4] and founder of Bioo,[1] Arkyne's project for the generation of electricity from plants.[5][6] He's being involved in projects related with the development of geo-localization tracking hardwares, evolutionary artificial intelligence softwares and systems for the organic generation of hydrogen in rivers for clean fuel applications.[1]
He has been listed in the Forbes Under 30 Europe list at the age of 20,[6][7][8] figuring in the Astana International Expo of 2017,[9] awarded by the Scientific Park of Madrid,[10] listed in the top 50 of the most innovative startups of Europe by the European Parliament,[11][12] and recognized by Google[2] and South Summit 2016 with the tittle of Most Disruptive Company of the Year[13] and the first price in energy and Industry.[14] Counts with 9 internationally renowned awards in London, Vienna, Bucharest, Prague, Paris, Barcelona, Madrid and Brussels.[2][1][15]
Early Years[edit]
Pablo Vidarte was born on March 29, 1996, in Seville, Spain.[2] He was the older son a middle-class family. At the age of 12 he began studying software programming, creating experimental applications and video-games.[16] At the age of 14, he wrote his first book.[16] He developed an interest for music and film-making,[17] and was lately awarded with the Cambridge University film-making national prize at the age of 16.[18][17] At that same age, Vidarte founded his first company. He began studying Stirling engines in the baccalaureate at the age of 17, developing a research of external combustion engines together with parallel studies being developed at NASA.[19][17] He was finalist in a national innovation competition that brought him as invited guest to the first European Summit of the Singularity University, created by Google and NASA, taking place in 2013 at Budapest, Hungary.[18]
Vidarte went to Barcelona at the age of 18 to study engineering.[20] He then renewed his interest for software and computer engineering,[18] developing from monitoring programs to an evolutionary artificial intelligence able to learn and create evolving virtual societies.[21] He became interested in the hardware and business world, were he founded his first technological companies[18][22] and, lately, launched his next book at the age of 21.[23][16]
Career[edit]
Arkyne Technologies[edit]
On October 27, 2015,[3] Pablo Vidarte founded his first technological company with his friend and nanotechnology student Javier Rodríguez Macías.[3][24][21] The goal of the company was to serve as legal vehicle to develop tech-based products from their research to their production.[19] The first project of the company was called Geoo, inside the geo-localization tracking devices industry.[21] The project was launched with a successful prototype, but was lately changed because of a rapid and harsh growth of bigger companies in the sector and a recent invention to generate electricity from plants.[2] This concept, developed by the company, pivoted its business model. After an early period of prior research, Pablo Vidarte, and the rest of the current members of the entity at that time, decided to name this project as Bioo.[22][21][18]
Bioo[edit]
In 2016, after a year of research and investigation, Bioo was officially founded as a project for the development of electricity from plants.[2][25][26] Based on investigations around the globe related with microbial fuel cell technology applied for water treatments, Vidarte and his team developed a series of prototypes of biological reactors.[21] These were able to obtain energy from the organic decomposition of carbon-based substances found in the substrate of plants,[9][21] and those naturally expelled by the roots.[2][7] The first obstacle of the team was to be able to replicate these biological batteries in industrial volumes after having to stop the delivery of their first concept products.[2] These first reactors required a high maintenance and were only able to be produced individually after a previous development in the lab.[21] Vidarte and his team made a first financial round focused on the development of a standardized model for the industrial replication of their reactors. This round consisted on €311.000[20] of private funding from business angels and a biotechnological company focused on bio-fuels and green-chemistry.[27][28] After a year, the goal was accomplished and their batteries were ready for the following scaling-up development.[5][29]
The company then focused their attention on two lines: A research and development line, for the application of this technology on a bigger scale; and a product line: Focused on launching smaller products with the basis of the technology. "The target of this last line was to showcase it and produce not only a profitability to maintain the R+D line,[22] but also to create a global consciousness about the technology and its applications".[21] Its first target was education, with the introduction of an interdisciplinary educational model.[30] Other projects in that line involved external wifi network applications.[21]
Since its founding, Bioo has received the economical support of the European Union, with more than one million euros[11][2] in funding for research and development, as well as the Spanish government and other private investors.[31] Pablo Vidarte was invited by the government to represent Spain in the international Expo of Energies of the Future of 2017 with Bioo.[1] The company was granted the privilege of staying in the permanent museum of energies of the future of Astana.[9] Vidarte has also performed two Tedx Talks[22][21] and a conference at the Mobile World Congress in 2016.[32] Currently the company counts with lab spaces, offices, workshops and an international franchise model.[22][33][17]
Philosophy and Work[edit]
Vidarte was the writer of the book: "Una Nueva Tierra. Aquel que vivió mil vidas",[34] and creator of the Trascentist movement,[23] a philanthropist philosophy based on the future advancements of society. Vidarte's philosophy is, throughout his work, based on current physics, biology and social behaviors applied in a long-term scale. It stands in a transhumanist line toward artificial evolution and the combat against aging with a further development on the recovery of data and a the disavowal of the biological world abandonment.[16] His philosophy also supports the development of a direct democracy through the use of current technologies.[35] Other influences of his philosophy are Elon Musk, Dr. Yuval N. Harari, the Millennium Project, and Singularity University.[23]
