Padilla Miami

From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

Original design of the Padilla Miami band.

Padilla Miami, originally known as the "Miami 8 & 11," is a type of handmade premium cigar manufactured by the Padilla Cigar Company. The cigar was introduced in 2005.

History and background[edit]

The Padilla "Miami" was introduced in 2005 as the "Miami 8 & 11," named after the original factory which made the cigars, located near the corner of 8th Street & 11th Avenue in the Little Havana section of Miami, Florida.[1]

The blend for this cigar was created by José "Pepin" Garcia and the cigars were originally manufactured at Garcia's the El Rey de los Habanos factory. Originally the salmons were rolled by Garcia himself.[2]

In 2008 production of the cigars was moved to a Miami factory owned by Padilla.[3] Production was yet again moved in 2010, this time to a facility in Danli, Honduras.[3]

The cigar in its current incarnation is a puro, with wrapper, binder, and filler all hailing from Nicaragua.[3]

The band and packaging were designed by Ernesto Padilla.

Description[edit]

A full-strength cigar, the Padilla Miami has a wrapper of Nicaraguan grown Cuban-seed Corojo surrounding a filler blend of Nicaraguan Criollo and Corojo and a binder of Nicaraguan Criollo. There are six models in the regular line, plus one (the Belicoso Fino) as an exclusive to one retailer.

The band is black with gold lettering, with a large monogram "P" surrounded by a gold border in the center, with "Miami" in gold on a red background below the monogram. They are packed uncelloed in boxes of 20.
