Padmagolap is a 1970 Indian Bengali-language drama, thriller, crime, and suspense film. The film stars Soumitra Chatterjee, Aparna Sen, Anup Kumar, Ajitesh Bandopadhyay, Anubha Gupta, Satya Banerjee, Shailen Mukherjee, Arun Mitra, and Arun Dey. The film is directed by Ajit Lahiri and produced by Gouri Mitra and Subhankar Banerjee. The film did not do very well at the box office, and it is not a well-known film. It did not achieve significant popularity or widespread critical acclaim. The songs were rare as well, but the songs are good and melodious.

Plot

Ramakanta is a businessman whose wife Lata dies under mysterious circumstances. Lata had adopted Rita, the daughter of Mamata, as she was childless. Lata writes a letter to Mamata before her death, and Mamata comes to investigate her death and prove that Ramakanta was behind it. Tapas Roy, an investigative officer, joins Ramakanta’s office. Police suspects that Ramakanta deals in drugs. Ramakanta owns a deserted fort, which is haunted, and a mysterious woman figure is seen roaming there and singing. Mamata reaches Ramakanta’s town with her other daughter, Sarama, Rita’s twin. Several twists and turns reveal that Ramakanta killed Lata and carried on illegal business from the deserted mansion. Sarama gets killed by Ramakanta. But the police finally manages to catch him.
