Padmaja Venugopal (born 1960) is an Indian politician from Kerala and daughter of former chief minister of Kerala, K. Karunakaran. Padmaja was a member of INC until 2024 when she quit the party and joined Bharatiya Janata Party.[1]

Political career

Padmaja entered politics in the early 2000s.[2][3] In 2004 Indian general elections, she contested from the erstwhile Mukundapuram constituency to the Lok Sabha, losing to Lonappan Nambadan of CPI(M).[4]

She also unsuccessfully contested in Kerala Legislative Assembly elections from Thrissur constituency twice as INC candidate in 2016 and 2021. On 7 March 2024, she joined the Bharatiya Janata Party ahead of the 2024 Indian general elections.[5] [6]
