Pakitherium (meaning "Pakistan beast") is a dubious genus of extinct rhinocerotoid from the Shagala Formation of Pakistan. The type, and currently only, species is P. shagalai, named by Malkani et al. (2013).^[1]

Discovery and naming[edit]

The holotype is MSID-201 to MSID-227, which was discovered between 2000 and 2013 in the Shagala Formation and consists of a partial skeleton including a partial skull, vertebral centra and a pair of distal ribs with preserved cross section.^[1]

Pakitherium shagalai was named and described by Malkani et al. (2013).^[1]

Classification[edit]

Malkani et al. (2013) described Pakitherium as a member of the Paraceratheriidae.^[1]
