The Palos Verdes Peninsula News is the local newspaper of the Palos Verdes Peninsula in Los Angeles, California. The title dates back to 1937 and has changed names numerous times since. Related titles include the Rolling Hill Herald and the Hollywood Riviera Tribune.

About the paper[edit]

Today the paper has a circulation of about 18,000 in the Los Angeles, CA area. It is published bi-weekly, and covers the area of Palos Verdes Estates, Rolling Hills Estates, Rolling Hills and Rancho Palos Verdes.[1][2] It is located at Suite 300, 500 Silver Spur Road, Rancho Palos Verdes, CA 90275. It's editor-in-chief is Mary Scott.[3]

In 1965, it had a circulation of 20,726. In December 1966, it was up to 24,751.[4]

Staff[edit]

  • Corena Green was on the news editoral staff as of 1967.[5] As of 1971, she was still there as editor.[6]
  • Frances Halpern was with the paper for rour years. She started off as a general assignment and political reporter. Later she was editor of the paper's profile section.[7] She was hired for the job by Corena Green.[8]
  • Tom Semponi who was a reporter and photographer for the paper died in September 2014. He had also been an editor for the Lomita News.[9]
  • Helen Zimmerman Barnes was a writer for the paper. She is also the author of Forged by Fire: The Devastation and Renewal of a Mountain Community.[10]
