Conceived by Jim Brown and Max Trotter Landry, Paperstone was formally incorporated as a private limited company on 25th August 2004. Its website went live the following April and the company enjoyed early success from search engine optimization (SEO).[2] 2008 saw Paperstone take £1 million in revenue for the first time as well as its first industry accolade – with Trotter Landry winning the BOSS Young Professional of the Year.[3]

In 2009 the company undertook a Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) with University College London’s (UCL) Interaction Centre,[4] collaborating on usability testing of the Paperstone website.[5][6] In 2010 Paperstone’s revenue reached £2 million.

In 2013, Paperstone partnered with national deafblind charity Sense to raise money through recycling used printer cartridges and toners.[7]
