Kingsley Chukwuyem Alfred better known by his stage name Pappy Thrill, is a Nigerian singer, songwriter and record producer. In 2013, his 15-track debut album Blood Stain sold 8000 copies from his car booth.[1] He was nominated for Best International Act under the Hip-Hop Category at the 2014 Top Naija Music Awards.[2] In October 2020, his music video True Talk featuring Samurai was nominated under the African Television Music Video Award category at the African Movie Festival in Belgium.[3]

Early life and education

He schooled in Nigeria, had his ND at the Delta State Polytechnic, Ogwashi-Uku and later relocated to Lagos, Nigeria’s largest city, sprawls inland from the Gulf of Guinea across Lagos Lagoon, where he did his HND at the Lagos City Polytechnic. In 2011 he relocated to South Africa and began his musical career with the release of his sophomore album in 2013.[4]

Career

In 2019, the Nigerian-born South African-based artist returned with his second album, "Tears Sweat Blood," which topped charts in several countries and entered at number one on the iTunes Hip-Hop South Africa chart[5] on the first day of release. Since its release, the album’s lead single has been receiving heavy rotation on national radio and TV stations. The genre-bending singer is also the organizer of the annual music event in South Africa, Thrill Concert.[6] In July 2021, he announced that his third studio album, "Lion Of The Western Cape" will arrive before the end of the year.[7] In March, Pappy Thrill released Medicine which appears to be the lead single from his latest album. After revealing that a new album will arrive by the end of the year in July, The Nation reported that the singer has a new song from the forthcoming album.[8] At the start of September, Tribune published that the singer is set to release a new song with a title revealed in the publication; according to the editor at the time of publication, it is unclear if the single will appear on the singer's forthcoming album.[9]
