Pascal Mouawad is a jewelry designer, gemologist and businessman of Lebanese origin based in the USA.[2] He is a member of the fourth generation[3] of the family-owned Mouawad Group,[4] and serves as the Co-Guardian and CEO of Mouawad's Retail Division.[5]

Early life and education[edit]

Pascal Mouawad was born in Lebanon, Zgharta to Robert Mouawad and Leila Mouawad, as a member of the fourth generation of the Mouawad family business. He is the second born of three siblings and the brother to Fred and Alain Mouawad.

Earlier on in his life, his family moved to Switzerland where he spent his childhood. With the mentorship of his father and together with his brothers; he grew up sorting diamonds and setting jewels into new creations at the family factory.[6][7]

After graduating from high school, Pascal moved to Los Angeles to pursue further education.[8] He acquired a Business Administration degree from Pepperdine University, a Gemologist degree from the Gemological Institute of America and a Master of Business Administration degree from the Anderson Graduate School of Management at UCLA. He is also a Harvard Business School alumnus.[9]

Business & career[edit]

Pascal started working in the family-owned Mouawad Company in 1999.[10] Inspired by his father,[11] he courted the ‘glamorous royalty’ of modern-day celebrities with Mouawad’s European traditions and craftsmanship. In 2000, he partnered with Victoria’s Secret to design and build the most luxurious and expensive lingerie ever made[12] under the Fantasy Bra collection,[13] covering some of the world’s supermodels in Mouawad diamonds[14] for six straight years.[15]

In the year 2006, Mouawad’s U.S. office was moved from New York to Los Angeles.[16] The relocation made it possible for Pascal to connect with Hollywood’s A-listers.[17][18] Under his guidance,[19] Mouawad USA’s division attracted artists and celebrities looking to design jewelry backed by the tradition, quality and heritage of the Mouawad brand.[20] Heidi Klum was the first supermodel to endorse the Mouawad line and in 2006 was named Fashion Influencer of the Year by The Accessories Council following the success of the collection.[21]

On 1 January 2010,[22][23][24] the company reins were passed on from third-generation leader Robert to his fourth-generation sons; Pascal, Fred and Alain. Each brother assumed a role as co-guardian, with Pascal becoming the Co-Guardian of the Retail Division.[25] Since then, Pascal[26] and his brothers have continued to create jewels,[27] as well as timepiece collections, and have so far garnered five Guinness World Records along the way.[28][29] Under their leadership, Mouawad has gone through complete vertical integration as a diamond manufacturer through the DTC Sightholder designation and the establishment of the Mouawad Diamond Factory.[30]
