Pathan is an upcoming Indian action thriller film written and directed by Siddharth Anand and produced by Aditya Chopra under his banner Yash Raj Films.[1] Set in the same universe as Tiger and War franchises, the film stars Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone and John Abraham in the lead roles.[2]The fourth installment in the YRF Spy Universe
Yet to be officially announced, the film is one of the most expensive projects of the Yash Raj Films and is planned to be released in the second half of 2022.

Production[edit]
Yash Raj Films is yet to officially announce Pathan. Various cast and crew of the film including Salman Khan and Vishal Dadlani have unofficially announced the film at various occasions. Vishal Dadlani unofficially announced the film on his twitter account. He wrote on the post, "No number from the past matters, no number in the future is too big. The whole world is waiting to watch Shah Rukh Khan. More importantly, we're all working towards a kickass film with great songs."[16]
According to Box Office Worldwide, the budget of the film is ₹170 crore,[17] according to Pinkvilla, the budget of the film is over ₹250 crore[18] and according to Bollywood Life, the budget of the film is between ₹250 and ₹280 crore.[19] The Free Press Journal reported that Shah Rukh Khan is paid ₹100 crore for the film[20][21] and Zoom reported that Deepika Padukone is paid ₹15 crore and John Abraham is paid ₹20 crore for the film.[22] Salman Khan who is having a cameo appearance in the film, didn't take any charge.[23][24][25]
Casting[edit]
Shah Rukh Khan was selected for the film on August or September 2020.[26] Deepika Padukone joined this film on 23 November, 2020[27][28][29] John Abraham joined the casting of the film on June, 2021 during the shooting of the film in Mumbai.[30][31] Dimple Kapadia was cast in December 2020.[32][33] Salman Khan was cast to make a cameo appearance on November 2020, reprising his role from the Tiger (franchise).[34][35]
Filming[edit]
Principal photography of the film began on 17 November, 2020 in Mumbai.[36][37][38] In January 2021, filming moved to Dubai. Some of the major action sequences including a long chase sequence were shot in the same schedule.[39][40][41] On 12 April 2021, after some crew members of the film tested positive for COVID-19, further schedules of the film were postponed.[42][43] The filming resumed on 25 June, 2021.[44][45][46] Later, in July 2021, another schedule of the film began.[47] A song was scheduled to be shot from 7 October 2021 in Mallorca and Cádiz[48][49][50] but the schedule was postponed.[51]
