Patricia is a Nigerian technology company based in Lagos, which focuses on Cryto-currency, gifts card trading and e-commerce. Founded in 2017, it is considered one of the biggest e-commerce sites in Africa through its subsidiaries; Bitcoin and gift cards trading and online luxury fashion store.[1].
History[edit]
Patricia was founded in 2017, by Fejiro Hanu Agboje mainly as a gift card exchange business. The idea to start the business was conceived after he could not find a way to sell a gift card an uncle gave to him.[2].
Patricia was then set up as a platform to trade unused Amazon, iTunes, Google Play gift cards. The website then expanded to swapping those gift cards for cash. A while later, Patricia introduced a service that allowed customers to send gift items to loved ones abroad, after which it started an online Luxury fashion store called Rooom19. [3].
In October 2018, the company partnered with Nigerian rapper Yung6ix as a brand ambassador.[4]. November 2019 saw Patricia.com appoint Benjamin Oyemolan as its Chief Technology Officer, making him the youngest CTO in West Africa at the age of 23.[5].
In a bid to improve its brand awareness, Patricia unveiled 14 entertainers and influencers as Brand ambassadors.[6]
