Paymentus is an American technology company that provides software for electronic bill presentment and payment (EBPP). The company was founded in 2004 and is publicly traded on the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker symbol PAY.[1][2][3]
History
Paymentus was founded in 2004.[4] In May 2021, the company went public on the New York Stock Exchange, raising approximately $210 million in its initial public offering, with reported valuations exceeding $2 billion.[5] [6]
In August 2021, Paymentus acquired Payveris in a transaction valued at approximately $152.2 million in cash and stock.[7][8] The company also acquired Finovera, a bill aggregation technology provider, in 2021.[9]
Operations
Paymentus offers a cloud EBPP platform and a proprietary Instant Payment Network (IPN) that connect billers, financial institutions, and partners to enable bill presentation, payments, and reconciliation across multiple channels and methods, such as payment cards, ACH, and digital wallets.[10] Paymentus specializes in non-discretionary bill categories, such as utilities, insurance, government, telecom, and healthcare, and its focus on transaction-based revenue derived from processing recurring consumer payments at scale.[11][12]
The company acts as an intermediary for essential consumer payments.[11][13]
Paymentus also maintains a cybersecurity framework designed to protect sensitive financial data during payment processing.[14][15]
