Period poverty

Period poverty refers to those who do not have access to menstrual care products, because they cannot afford to or there is no menstrual product in their vicinity, and/or to those who cannot manage their periods in a safe way due to lack of access to clean water or proper washing facilities, and/or to people who cannot or do not dare to ask for menstrual products from whom they are financially dependent, and/or to those who cannot manage their menstruation with dignity, due to stigma or community retribution.

Period poverty affects women's education, livelihood and independence.
