Pessimist is an American Death Metal band to emerge out of the early Baltimore, Maryland metal scene, with their "Dark Reality" Demo in 1993.[1][2] Pessimist has played music all over the world and released 3 Full-length albums, 2 Demos, 1 EP and 1 Single that has earned them a Cult following and global fan base.[3]
History

1993 - Pessimist self-released "Dark Reality" Demo. Pessimist played their first shows opening for national acts Incantation, Deicide, and Malevolent Creation.
1995 - Pessimist self-released "Absence of Light" cassette EP, and landed concerts opening for Testament, Forbidden, Suffocation, and Napalm Death.
1997 - Pessimist signed to Lost Disciple Records and released their debut CD "Cult of the Initiated", charting on CMJ Top 40 Loud Rock Charts, and receiving acclaim from around the world. The band continued to play shows in MD/VA/NY scene, opening for Monstrosity, Vader, Nile, Cryptopsy, Gorguts, and Vital Remains, festival appearances at Milwaukee Metalfest XII, New England Metal and Hardcore Fest.
1999 - Pessimist released their 2nd CD, "Blood For the Gods" which soared into the CMJ Top 30 and Pessimist went on their first European tour with Fleshless (Cz) in 1999. Pessimist received the prestigious "Pick of the Issue" in SOD Magazine.[4]
2001 - Pessimist traveled to Tampa, FL to record with producer Erik Rutan, for their 3rd CD, "Slaughtering the Faithful", which featured a re-vamped lineup, and a faster, more extreme musical direction.[5][6] More shows followed with Morbid Angel, Hate Eternal, Immolation, Cannibal Corpse, Dark Funeral, festival appearances at March Metal Meltdown (NJ), November to Dismember (CA), and a Live "on-air" performance on WNYU.
2006, 2007 - Pessimist took a hiatus.[7]
2008 - Pessimist returned with "Evolution Unto Evil" CD, a compilation of rare/live demo recordings and tributes to Kreator, Death, Megadeth, and Possessed.[8][9] This was followed by appearances at New England Deathfest, Hostile City Deathfest.[10]
2009 - Pessimist completed their 2nd European Tour, with label-mates Pandemia (Cz).
2015 - Pessimist Reissued "Slaughter the Faithful" album on October 31st.[11]
2018 - Pessimist played Maryland Deathfest (MDF), Las Vegas Deathfest, and Rage of Armageddon (NY).[12]
