Pete Wasner is an American country music songwriter and musician.[1] Wasner is most well known as a session musician and songwriter, who has worked extensively with Vince Gill and co-wrote two #1 singles with him, "Don't Let Our Love Start Slipping Away" and "Whenever You Come Around".  He also wrote "One Night A Day", recorded by Garth Brooks and "Mama Knows The Highway", a hit for Hal Ketchum. Other artists who have recorded his songs include Reba McEntire, John Waite, Crystal Gale, and Patty Loveless.

As a session musician, he has specialized in piano, keys, and organ. Artists who Wasner has played with, either live or on their albums, include Garth Brooks, Sawyer Brown, Emmylou Harris, Eric Clapton, Lowell George, Alison Krauss, Tom Paxton, Tom Rush, John Prine, Kathy Mattea, Richie Furay, Tim O'Brien, David Mallett and more.[2]  

He is the father of Mackenzie Wasner, a Season 12 contestant on American Idol.
