Peter Evans (percussionist)

Peter Evans was born at Manchester, United Kingdom. Peter Evans studied Timpani and Percussion at Guildhall School of music and Drama, which he graduated in 1979.[1]

Performing life[edit]

Peter Evans become a freelance musician in London,working with many of the main orchestra including the London Philharmonic Orchestra and BBC National Orchestra of Wales. Peter Evans was appointed as Principal Timpanist of the Scottish Ballet Orchestra since 1980. When in Glasgow, Peter Evans had also worked extensively with BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra and Royal Scottish National Orchestra as well as Scottish Opera and Scottish Chamber Orchestra. [2]

Teaching life[edit]

In 1985, Peter Evans moved to Glasgow and start teaching percussion in Lothian region. Peter Evans was appointed to the panel of Percussion Examiners for the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in 1989. Since 1990 he has taken up various teaching posts in Glasgow area. Starting from 1997, Peter Evans join Napier University as a lecturer in Percussion and joined the percussion department at Royal Conservatoire of Scotland in 2002. In recent years, Peter Evans has involved tutoring on National Youth Orchestra's courses. He also worked as a percussion teacher for the Inner London Education Authority.
