Phanindra Sama is a Indian Internet based entrepreneur. He is the co-founder of online bus ticket booking platforms Redbus.in. It is the world's largest online bus ticket booking platform operating in India, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Peru and Colombia

Early life[edit]

Sama was born on 15 August 1980 at Todapakal village in Nizambad District Andhra Pradesh. His father died when he was 6 years old.His mother took all the responsibilities of Phanindra and his brother.Phanindra then moved to his uncle house in Hyderabad for his class 10th and +2 studies. He was an extra ordinary student in studies. He got 80% marks in SSC and 97% marks in his intermediate. Considering his intermediate marks he got admissions into BITS Pilani in the stream of Electronics Engineering. He post graduate from Indian Institute of Science. As a child he was always fascinated with electronic. The way electrons flow in a wire and make a fan rotate etc were very interesting to him.

Career[edit]

After his post graduation he got job in Texas Instruments, Bengalore. He was a Sr. Design Engineer there. He was co-founded Redbus.in a online bus ticket booking platform Redbus.in was acquired by Ibibo in around $100million in 2013.

Sama has been appointed as cief innovation officer of TSIC (Telangana state innovation cell). He is also currently serving as a patron in Kakatiya Sandbox, an experimentation lab for people to work on solutions to the problem.

  • He was included in Forbes magazine's Top 5 startup 2010
  • He was awarded "India's best internet starup" 2010 by IMAI
  • Entrepreneur of the year award under I.T by ET Now in 2013.
