Phillippa Williamson is a British Conservative politician serving as Leader of Lancashire County Council since the 2021 election.[1][2] She has served as the Councillor for Lancaster Rural North since the 2017 election and previously as the Cabinet Member for Children, Young People and Schools.[3] She served as Lancaster City Councillor for Torrisholme ward from 2015 to 2019.
In a bid to gain further funding for Lancashire local government, she has spearheaded the Lancashire 2050 Framework.[4] This document set out a number of key priorities – including the economy, housing and transport – and how to improve them in Lancashire.[5] This is to be achieved by abolishing the current system of numerous councils and replace them with three stand-alone unitary authorities. So far the plan has not been supported by the Westminster Government.
Cllr Williamson is a member of the Local Government Association's People and Places Board.[3]
