) also known as Pichaikkaran 2: Anti Bikili is an upcoming Indian Tamil-language action thriller film co-written, edited, directed, and music-composed by Vijay Antony in his directorial debut.[2] The film stars Vijay Antony and Kavya Thapar with Radha Ravi, Y. G. Mahendran, Mansoor Ali Khan, Hareesh Peradi, John Vijay, Dev Gill and Yogi Babu in supporting roles.[3]
This film is a sequel to the 2016 film Pichaikkaran. It is scheduled to be released on 19 May 2023.[4]

Development
After the success of Pichaikkaran, in 2020, Vijay Antony planned to make a sequel for the film and approached the director Sasi to direct the sequel, but he was busy with other commitments.[5][6] So Vijay Antony searched for directors and chose Priya Krishnaswamy, who earlier directed the film Baaram.[7] The first look poster for the film was released on 24 July 2020. The crew announced that the film will be dubbed in Telugu and titled Bichagadu 2.[8][9] But Priya Krishnaswamy has opted out of the film crew. In 2021, while acting in Kodiyil Oruvan, he asked the director Ananda Krishnan to direct Pichaikkaran 2. Later, Vijay Antony himself wrote the script with co-writers K. Palani and Paul Antony. And he decided to make his directorial debut with this film.[10] The film was produced by Fatima Vijay Antony under the banner of Vijay Antony Film Corporation. This film is the tenth production of Vijay Antony Film Corporation. The character look poster for Pichaikkaran 2: Anti Bikili was released on 12 March 2022.[11]
Filming
The film's shooting began on 1 September 2021.[12][13] The film was shot in Chennai, Malaysia, Kolkata, Georgia and Dubai.[14] On 13 December 2022, the film's three technicians were arrested for taking a shot with a drone camera above the Chennai High Court without permission from authorities.[15][16] On 16 January 2023 The film crew revealed that while filming the action sequence of the film in Kuala Lumpur,[17][18] Vijay Antony got injured, having his jaw and nose broken, and he underwent treatment.[19][20] The cinematography of the film was done by Om Narayanan, and the editing of the film was done by Vijay Antony. The action sequences of the film are choreographed by Rajasekar, who earlier worked on the film Ayyappanum Koshiyum, and Mahesh Mathew, who earlier worked with Vijay Antony on Kodiyil Oruvan. A four-minute promotional sneak peek video of the film released on 10 February 2023.[21] The trailer for the film was released on 29 April 2023.[22][23]

Release
Theatrical
The film crew had earlier announced that the film would release along with dubbed versions of the film in Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada, and Hindi on 14 April 2023, but it was postponed[25][26] due to a copyright violation allegation[27] and is scheduled to be released on 19 May 2023.[4]
Plagiarism allegations
After the release of the sneak peek video of Pichaikkaran 2, V. Rajaganapthy, the producer of Aaivukkoodam, filed a petition in the Madras High Court against Vijay Antony Film Corporation, stating the story of the film Pichaikkaran 2 was copied from the story of Aaivukkoodam. V. Rajaganapthy also requested that the film not be released until the issue is solved. And the court rejected Rajaganapathy's request, stating that the brain transplantation concept was invented in 1908 and has already been used in many films;[28][29] except for the concept of brain transplantation, there is no similarity between the films.[30][31]

The film's satellite rights were bagged by Star Network, and the film's digital streaming rights were sold to Disney+ Hotstar.[32]
