A pineapple boat[1] is a non-edible, but biodegradable bowl,[2] for serving both sweet and savory dishes. The carved out flesh may be thrown away, or may be used as an ingredient in the dish. Similar to pineapple boat, a coconut shell cocktail and stuffed mussels are other examples of non-edible, but biodegradable bowls. However, in the case of coconut shell, it is usually used for beverages, especially cocktails.
