Planned obsolescence
From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki
Planned obsolescence describes devices and machines which have deliberately been built in a way to fail prematurely.
Examples
- A battery that reaches the end of its lifespan renders a device near-useless if not connected to an external power source. The battery is the component of portable electronics with the shortest lifespan, thus non-replaceable batteries are a form of planned obsolescence.
