Poezio (Esperanto for "poetry") is a free and open-source software, instant messaging console client for the XMPP protocol. It is published under the zlib Licence and has been developed since 2010. Its interface is entirely ncurses-based.
Poezio allows joining the network and discussion rooms without account creation. It uses similar commands to those used by popular IRC clients such as weechat or irssi.

Poezio supports GNU/Linux, BSD and macOS.
Binary packages and builds of Poezio are available for installation as well as the source code for self compilation, as well as a Docker image.[1] Packages are available on most Linux distributions, such as Debian,[2] Ubuntu,[3] Fedora,[4] Gentoo Linux,[5] Arch Linux (on AUR).[6]
