Marsha Bryant, professionally known as Poni Capri formerly Poni is a British Recording Artist, songwriter, and Actor from London, England. She is known as being one of the first UK Artists to work with multi-platinum selling producer Mr. Porter and get her music on mainstream Radio without a record deal. She recorded four songs in Detroit with Mr. Porter of D12 Shady Records and went on to work with grammy winning producer Deezle Darius Harrison.

Early Life[edit]

Marsha Bryant was born in London UK, her mother is from Ghana and her father is Jamaican. She is the fourth child of five. She attended Sacred Heart Girls school in East London. She was in a girl group with her sisters called The Cool Girls when was 7 years old and wrote and recorded her first rap. She had weekly organ lessons and also played the Flute. Her parents had a bitter divorce and she turned to writing poetry to deal with her emotions. The break up caused her mother to work very long hours to support the family, in return Poni and her siblings had to spend many nights with other family members who live in Hackney which is a rough neighbourhood of East London. At the age of 14 she teamed up with a female rapper called Caramel and then later a Rapper call Chrome Killa. She later joined a group called Dark Foundation with the head of the group being an artist and producer called Surgical. The group was based in the gritty crime ridden streets of Hackney. Poni was the only female in a 7 man group. She later decided to go solo and teamed up with her sister Fiona Bryant to represent her as her manager.

Career[edit]

She opened up on a Dru Hill Tour in England, her performance attracted the attention of a Concert promoter who introduced her to D12. Mr. Porter[1] Denaun Porter of the group D12 Shady Records was particularly interested in her music and style, they went on to record songs together Survival of the Fittest, Mood to Party, All I Want and Sod's law. Poni teamed up with two female rappers Karis and Young Fitz and formed a group called Don Diva to feature on the BBC TV Show called Singing with the Enemy, together they worked with Apollo Strings and Music Producer TommyD[2] [3] The popular DJ Tim Westwood also featured on the TV show alongside Poni, she went on to be interviewed on his radio she on [BBC Radio 1]][4] Poni recorded Easy Money with Lil Wayne that was released on his Public Enemy[5] Mixtape[6] [7] She was also in two episodes of the T4 Tv Show Musicool.

She Released an Album called Whip it[8] [9] and Mixtape called Everlasting She has also released many other singles, like Winning produced by James Worthy (record producer) , The Key and Bag Up by BeatzonaBean , At the Top by Turbo and Under me [10]
