Pontus J. Back (born 1972 in Finland) is a Finnish rock musician, songwriter, and author. He has toured internationally and is known for combining classic rock and southern rock influences with autobiographical themes. His work includes solo albums released over several decades, and he has also authored multiple books in Swedish that have been translated into Finnish, English, and German.[1]

Career

Back began performing at a young age and built a career as a touring artist across Europe. Over the years, he has played with or alongside members of established rock groups, and his official site lists performances with musicians from bands including Lynyrd Skynyrd, Whitesnake, Status Quo, Frankie Miller Band and Molly Hatchet.[2]

In 2007, Back was hospitalized with life‑threatening complications due to alcohol and drug abuse. According to his own accounts, this experience led to a personal and spiritual transformation which influenced his later music and public outreach work.[3]

Back has toured with his ministry and music project, often traveling by a bus referred to as the “Gospel Express”, using music as part of outreach across Europe and Finland.[4]

Musical style

Back's music blends elements of rock, southern rock, and rockabilly. Reviews of his 2019 album *Rock Force One* describe a blues‑influenced rock sound with guitar‑driven arrangements and elements of country and blues rock.[5]
